The Polar Regions are the areas of the globe surrounding the poles consisting the Arctic at the North and Antarctic at the South. Also known as frigid zones, long winters with little daylight, and short summers with long days. Polar sea ice is currently thinning, possibly as a result of global warming.
A glacier is a large, slow-moving mass of ice, formed from compacted layers of snow that slowly deforms and flows in response to gravity and high pressure. Glaciers are sensitive monitors of climate conditions and are crucial to both world water resources and sea level variation.
